Meet
the Artist at Shaw's Taxidermy
My
passion for this profession began in 1982 when I attended Mountain Valley
School of Taxidermy in Phoenix, AZ. After returning home with 420 hours
of learning under my belt, I began my part time business. Through the years,
the improved quality of my work and the customer base I have built has
enabled me to make this a full time business.
By
“word of mouth” my business has grown every year.
I
take pride in the quality of mounts that I produce and customer service
is my priority.
Making
the trip to state and national shows have given me the opportunity to attend
valuable seminars and demonstrations which have helped immensely in achieving
the level of quality I desire. These shows also help to introduce new products
in the industry. Utilizing the knowledge gained at these shows and by using
only the best products available to the industry I feel that I am presenting
the customer with the best I have to offer.
Competitions
are also an integral part of my taxidermy work and training. Competitions
give you the opportunity to have your work critiqued by your peers.
In
1985 won 3rd in professional division waterfowl at the World Show in Lawrence,
KS.
Have
also won numerous awards at the state level for whitetail and game birds.
For
the last two years have won the Ducks Unlimited Award for best waterfowl
at the Kansas Association of Taxidermists state convention.

The first Midwest Regional Taxidermy Convention was held at the Copper Dock Winery in Pocahontas, Illinois on September 23-25, 2011. This three day convention with hands on training seminars, was taught by some of the best in the industry, while drawing in a variety of taxidermists and vendors from distant states. On Saturday evening, an awards dinner was held for the taxidermists that included competition and a variety of awards. Winner of the Whitetails Unlimited Gamehead Sculpture was Kendall Shaw with his mounted Whitetail display. Pictured (l-r) Kendall Shaw and Greg Zykan (Shoal Creek WTU President and Taxidermy Judge.)
